So dusty here. O.O

Okay ppl i'm here to revive this dead blog. Find it easier to communicate with you guys. So help in reviving this dead blog too! hehe.

Okay, so let's see.
We're in the middle of the year, and yeah, most of us are gettng busier and busier each day (as for me, maybe slacker? hols are approaching right after exams!).
We have the secondary & poly students havng their exams soon, 'N' lvls and 'A' lvls, and we have Christabel going to start school soon.
And Poly students having tons of assignments and of course study and study for all of us. Gideon being busy with all the admin stuffs (hahaha).

Despite our busy schedule, lets not forget to pray for one another and encourage one another yeah?

We have a few people who cannot come to church on saturdays due to parental objections and tuitions.. do u know who? hehe

Okay, so here's the deal.
Let's all be praying for each other..

1) Xingya.
She'll be having tuitions on saturdays weekly now hence unable to come join us in the house of God.
Let's all continue to pray for her as she just told me that there are chances that she could change her tuition timings and lets pray for that to happen so she could come on saturdays!
Let's even continue to encourage her yeah? Just talked to her, and yes, really cool to hear that she's coping well (studies, spiritually etc.)
Despite what's going on, yet she's holding on and standing firm in her faith. Commendable!

Pray also for her shoulder. Apparently she hurt her shoulder and it seemed to me quite bad. So be praying for her!

2) Dorin.
She has been having objections from her dad to come to church.. and I heard she is being banned to even go out and such. So be praying for her. She could be coming this saturday as her dad will be away and lets pray that she'll continue to stand firm. We all know it's not easy yeah.
Do enourage her along the week too k?

3) Christabel.
Our dear friend here is going to start school @ SMU soon (i think mid-aug). Let's be even praying for her too and that she'll use these weeks to prepare herself for the new phase of life. Pray that she'll remain focused in God.
Do encourage her too!

4) Anthony.
We all know how busy anthony is with his DNT and his school work that he have to stay back daily till late evening. (poor guy ):) Do pray for him in terms of discipline to study and maintain QT. Keep encouraging him too even in the midst of his coursework and all.

5) Renee.
We know that she has been facing some objections from her mother in coming to church too and lets all keep encouraging her in her walk with God and be praying for her yeah?

6) Tiffany.
Even as she is being busy with school projects too, let's pray for her too for God to give her new strength each day. Apparently, she fell ill last wk or sth and just recovered. Let's pray for good health yeah? and her grandfather who was admitted into hospital on recent saturday and has been just discharged.

7) Michelle Lo.
Her prelims are approaching (in August too if i'm not wrong) and yeah, then 'A' levels. We all know its not easy studying for 'A's huh. And lets all keep encouraging her and praying for her.. praying for her even in time management and her studies! That even through her results God will be glorified!

Okay I'll stop here. Will be back with more.

But yeah, I'm not putting these up here for fun.
Let's even be supporting each other in areas and ways we can yeah!
It's as easy as ABC.
It all begins with you and me.

Just here to keep this blog alive.
Anyway, its the month of February and we're coming to an end of the month.
Okay, that's not my point.
My point is,
let's even remember to pray for one another.

I believe it's been quite a week for many of us.
Not a really good week; a tough one instead.
But let's all even press on and push push push push.
GOGOGO EVERYBODY!

This week we learn about praying in faith.
And let's put it into practice by even praying for one another in the cg in our daily lives.
So, you want the full list of the people who's in Oikos?
We have..

Gideon, Renee, Evan, Mich Lo, Tiffany, Christabel, Waikiat (coming back from Brunei soon!), Xav, Me, XingYa, Anthony, Evangeline Leow, Evangelina, Eileen, Clifford.
We also have someone back with us.. Karen.

At the same time, we don't want to forget the others whom we have nt seen for quite awhile..
Yiqi, Christine, Shuling and Dorin.

Yeah.
It's nt a really good season for few of us I suppse.
But let's all even begin to PRAY IN FAITH.
Because we live by faith, not by sight.

Okay, next up is actually Oikos Outing.
We're coming to the month of March..& there'll be a 1-wk hols.
And i was actually intending to plan an Oikos outing.
Hmm, preferably a picnic?
(ANTHONY CAN PREPARE THE FOOD.
MUAHAHAHAHA.)
No la, but yeah, i thought it's been sooooooooo long since we have such an outing.
So throw in any suggestions if you do have.
I'd prefer a picnic or something because we can have more time to interact and sit together.
Everyone can be included and i thought it'll be a great time to bond together. (:

Thirdly,
created a blog oikos-weshare.blogspot.com.
Basically, i actually created it for it to be an avenue for us to share our daily qt.
It's like really dead there right now. And i'm actually confused if i should just shut it down.
I'm not sure if it works and such.
Right now, i've only granted authors to Huiting Mich Lo & Evan.
So, now i would like your opinion.. if do you prefer it to be an entire oikos movement?
HAHA. MOVEMENT SEH.
alright, i mean, yeah.

Hello oikos!!! I'm here to share a super duper uber good news!

Yeah, few months back, if you could rmb, i went for my Grade 6 Piano Theory Exam.
Remember remember? That saturday? I still can remember what i wore la!
The week when i was so stressed up by it especially when my confidence was crushed after my own teacher 'criticised' me like saying she's disappoint in me and such.
The below is an extract out of my online journal that i penned down after my exam.

"This exam, i really depended alot on God.
I remember started studying this morning, like yeah, within 2-3 hrs.

Actually, I did feel peace in my heart la.

Really didn’t worry much at all.. it seems as if i don’t care much about the fact that today’s the day.

I’m glad I followed the prompting and not memorise all those terms. (They are italian terms that we have to memorise. Like the meaning of the word and such.)

If not i’d have banged the wall.

Reached MDIS, i saw majority of the people franctically trying to do a last minute lookthrough again.

I did nothing of that sort, though i just read through whatever i need to know once.

Yet, I felt confident. Yeah, I was like quite assurred that i’ll be able to do the paper.

Just felt that I need to take a rest, hence poof.

Out came my antisocialdevice, listening to p&w songs,yeah, just wana spend time w Him.

While doing, yeah. Initially a lil stressed.Yet towards the back, nothing of that sort.

The more I did, the happier i felt.

Was like praising God in my heart while doing, really thank Him la!

Usually when I do the paper, i’ll have to do alot alot of reference to my textbooks.

But today, though i can’t refer, I could do it man!

I was smiling to myself as I was doing, what do you think?

Instead, the thing that was worrying me while I was doing was to reach church on time la.

I kept calculating the time i need to complete the paper and such.

Finished the paper, with such great confidence that I’ll able to at least pass.

I walked out, my heart was filled with such joy.

All I wanted to was to quickly reach church asap!

I miss church; i miss my cg; I wanna share my joy.

Was on bus 961 and i kept smiling to myself.

Well, i just couldn’t contain the joy.

For all that God had done for me today."

Okay, so guess how much I got???
I got my cert and result slip and i got 81 marks out of 100!!!
And it is not a just pass. the passing mark is 66. It is a Merit which i never thought i could at least get an 80 la!

Praise God man!!!!!
We all know who's behind the scene yeah?

One thing that i learnt just now as i was thinking about this thing.
And that is . "Do not let what others' words limit what you can do."
Because i rmb, my first theory teacher for grde 6 actually said i was stupid and slow and such b4. and plus my 2nd and last teacher for grde 6 who actually said she was disappointed in me and that she said i can never pass that way.
I was so discouraged, so upset. That i felt like just giving up.
But in that instance, there was something tugging my heart that said,

"I shall prove them wrong. I shall prove her wrong. I can do it with Christ who strengthens me. Nothing is impossible with God."

And true enough. If i had allowed what my teacher said to affect me; if i had chosen to believe what they said about me and dwell in it, i doubt i would even have turned to God and asked God for help.
All the more i doubt i'll even get this results i want.
My response might have been..

"Since i am so lousy. I am a good for nothing. Might as well just don't take the exam anymore. It's pointless. I don't think i can do it. I don't think i can even pass. Why waste my time?"

Do not listen to what others say about what you cannot do.
But listen to what God says about what you can do.
For it is written,

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

So yeah, let's always depend on God in all things, be it school, exams, work, family.. EVERYTHING.
Because we know, God never fails us. (:
And we are all capable!

Just want to encourage you people that there will be times when this journey we're walking may seems so tough.

But always remember that tough times dont' last.

Troubles may come but they will not stay through with us throughout yeah?
How are we going to react to times when life seems so tough?

Are we going to be the tough players who will last instead?

Tough players who will stand through trials, endure when circumstances hit us.

Tough players who will never give up no matter what, and picking up after each fall.

Trust in God, because He promises to be with us through all times.

and so last week, we shared about how oikos would love the next generation in the new year.

im sure everyone's excited about what's going to happen with the changes in cell group!

hey! do you realise we kinda grew in the last 2 months? phenomenal! we have eileen.. then christabel who was with us during youth camp and she created the cg blog skin! kudos to her! still very amazed at how we manage to meet each other after 4 years. amazing. then the coming week we will have clifford who made a decision to commit to Christ during Xmas Bash! awesome yea?

this week, we go into unpredictable stuff!

i started theology class this week and i was just blown away by the amount of things that can be discussed about God! after the first class, im just so convinced that i serve a REALLY BIG God! and so as a cell group this week, we are going to discuss what's so unpredictable about being a christian! being unpredictable means that we are simply widening the space for God to work! we no longer constrain His works by the limitations of our understanding or even circumstances!

come ready to receive and also bless your small groups! during your small group, it will be a time of sharing the dreams, the BIG stuff that you want your small groups to pray for and walk through with you!

Hi guys! =) Wai Kiat here.

In the blink of an eye, 2008 is gonna end. Even as we proceed on to 2009, let us continue to be on fire for God, and I pray that God would continue to bless Oikos to the brim. =) It's going to be an exciting year of new breakthroughs, new revivals, new hopes. Let us embrace them with joy and expectations, in God's awesome presence.

On another note, just wanna thank each and every one of you who has made me enjoyed so much in cell group for this year. All of your prayers encouragements had also made me stayed strong and healthy in the army. =)

Heyo Oikos!

Today's the last day of camp.. well.
Though Black Tribe did not win any title at all, but I thought we all did well don't you agree?
It was really a joy to be able to have the chance to lead the group this year, at least it ain't really a bad experience for me.
An applause for Oikos because i thought you all really did well in this camp!
I saw the efforts, the participation, and i saw how new friendships are being established.
Coolness yeah?

I thought our CGL really did a good job in leading the tribe with sister zq yeah?
Let's all encourage him too!
Because he really did do a good job.
And i heard from someone in blue tribe that he actually finds it very stress to play war game against gideon leh.
See how zai our CGL is manzxzxzxz.

I pray that the camp will not just end here.
But continue to be enthusiastic for the Lord!
For, "Enthusiasm is not a feeling. But a discipline."
Let's all build up the discipline and be enthu for God always manzxzxzxz.

Hello all.
I'm here to share a little of what I learnt through today's QT.

Revelations 2:2-5.

Two words caught my attention : "FIRST LOVE".

v4: "Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love." (NIV)

Personally, what i'm impressed upon by the two words was that i feel that few of us, including me, we've lost that first love.
And somehow, yeah. For us to move on to a next new level, some of us have to find back our first love.

Remember the time when you first became a christian?
How zealous you were for God?
How joyful and passionate and fired up you were?
How much you love God.. so much so much?
It was like, you've received the best news in the whole wide world, and you just can't wait to spread the news you've received to everyone else!
You're just so excited about the new found lover.

Yet along the way, this slowly became not as a big news/exciting/breaking news to you anymore. It slowly died out.
We slowly allow busyness, distractions, problems, weariness etc. to creep into our lives, then to our hearts, and slowly taking the focus of our lives.

We might have pushed on through storms, stood high through situations, persevered through trials.. but, did our First Love move on with us?
Or have we forsaken our First Love?

Do we still love men as much as we did at first, going around, can't wait to spread the good news to the people around you?
Do we still love God as much as we did in the first place, when nothing else mattered except God?

God says, "Repent and do the things you did at first." in v5.

Even as House Party is approaching,
let us all be prepared, and be praying for our friends.
Shall we once again, be like before, being so excited to share the love we've received to others?
Shall we once again, be like before, as passionate for God and burning for Him lala?

Let us all search back for our forsaken First Love and bring it with us through this journey of life.(:

Hello all.

We currently have 15 Oikosians.
And it's been like this for quite some time already.

Ever dreamt how it will be like to have ten more of our friends on board with us together on this journey?
Ever wondered how it will be like to have 25 in total?
Haha.

Let's all think about this even for this week and share your own opinions pertaining this question either here on Oikos' blog itself, or sms, or your preferred way of communication. (:

For me, when B.Gid told me 25, I went O.O!!!
I thought, "how is it possible?!"
The next thing that came into my mind was,
"Majority Poly students leh. And in Poly so hard to build friendship so hard to share."

But then again, why not?

As I'm typing this, I'm reminded of how easily it was for me to actually share lil lil things about christianity to my new poly friends in the first sem.

I believe it is not that it is very hard to share, but at times we just cannot be bothered.
Like maybe, along the way, we might have just lost that compassion, lost that heart for people, lost that fire, and we just simply forgotten about the importance and urgency to share.
Yepp.
I admit, it happened to me. I'm not quite sure about you guys.

In addition, it is not that it is very hard to share, but at times we either let fear overpower us, or we just miss the opportunities.
We ain't looking out for opportunities in our convo with our friends to share.
Yepp!

For this week, why not we start off by looking out for opportunities to share to our friends even during our conversation with them?
Be the ones leading the convo on. hehe.

Imagining Oikos to hit 25. I think it'll be really a BIG WOW!
It'll be so much more fun, and a greater challenge.
And we'll all be suffering together with B.Gid. HAHAHA.

Hi people! =D Wai Kiat here.

Just here to say that it's been quite some time since I have met up with you all properly on saturdays, cos' of army stuffs. So really sorry about that! To those who were wondering how I was: I'm still fine and well, so no worries. =)

I will try my best to get back on track for cell group, since I don't think I have any more major events that is gonna hinder me from coming cell group (although there's still 1 more).

In the meantime, do keep me in prayer that I will continue to have perseverance and strength for my remaining one month in BMT. And that this remaining one month is going to be an exciting journey for me with God. =)

Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.

Finally fed up, God said, "THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job.."

So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboard and typed away.

They moused.

They faxed.

They e-mailed..

They e-mailed with attachments.

They downloaded.

They did spreadsheets!

They wrote reports.

They created labels and cards.

They created charts and graphs.

They did some genealogy reports

They did every job known to man.

Jesus worked with
heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell.

Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off..

Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.

Jesus just sighed.

Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming:

"It's gone! It's all GONE! "I lost everything when the power went out!"

Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work.

Satan observed this and became irate.

"Wait!" he screamed. "That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?"

God just shrugged and said,

JESUS SAVES!!!

We will be combining cell group with Bro. Andrew's Cell Group this Saturday.

I won't be around as I will be at Singapore Polytechnic doing BB Awards Presentation Ceremony till 6pm. I will join you guys after that.

Radical Conference: Session 4 (Ps Preston)

Psalm 119:32.
Luke 5:17.

-It's not about what we have, but about what we do with what we have.
-Jesus not only can take us out of the mess we're in, but He's going to protect and watch over us.

Jeremiah 29:11.

3 things that we've got to go through

#1) Condition.
-Jesus still heals, still takes away my shames and guilts.
-We can bring people what they need, we bring hope and bring it to the people.
-Condition comes most of the time from the brokenness and hurts in our hearts.
-We have to get pass our conditions. Jesus is ready to do something about our conditions.
-Watch your direction, you're taking your family and friends. Move towards the direction of Jesus!
-Being in the church, not acting in the church.
-Get pass your condition, get pass your crowd.

#2) Crowd.
-We must get pass the crowd, for the crowd we mix with will determine what we will be in the long run.
-We christians are like aliens in this world, we don't belong to this world.
-It's okay to not fit in with everybody in this world.
-Stop making decision based on who we hang around with, but based on who I know -God!
-Don't let the crowd make decisions for you.

#3) Critics.
-Everybody makes mistakes, but that doesn't mean we can never be who God wants us to be.
It's a decision we make.
-If you allow yourself to be owho what God wants you to be, allow God's power to show up in you, everybody will shut up.
-Jesus can silence our critics.

NO MORE!

Luke 22:47-53.

-There is life and death in our tongues.
-Love can take the place of frustrations and hurts.
-We need to love everybody and be careful with the words that come out of our mouths.
-Jesus knows who we have betrayed, who have betrayed us, who we have hurt, who have hurt us, where we are hurt, with us just entering the room without having to say anything.
-He knows what is going on in our lives even without us telling Him.
-He cares for us, all our hurts, all our brokeness.
-Got to kill the lions and bears in our private lives first before dealing with the giants in public.
-Integrity of heart.
-If we struggle with our characters, we lose everything.
-It's easy to be skillful, but difficult to have character.
-Jesus said, "NO MORE!", all the frustrations we have with each other, the betrayals of one another, the slanders between the leaders and us, the words that hurt one another, NO MORE!
-We are caretakers of one another's hearts.
-Mask: Is the person which we think everyone wants us to be.
-The betrayal that Jesus experienced from Judas is happening among us today.
-Jesus wants forgiveness to take place in our hearts. He wants to put us back together.
-Accept responsiblity for our actions and behaviors.
-JUST BE YOURSELF.

as i was thinking about the verse, something else came to my mind... Some of us can get into the habit of TALKING abt wanting to do something? but we really never get down to DOING it.. when things that are being talked about and not put into action? its basically crap. the army affectionally gives a name to such a group of ppl. a pretty noble one too. NATO. No Action Talk Only.

-The choices we make will determine the kind of life we live.
-We're not born winners and losers, but choosers.
-We can't borrow other people's relationship with God; we got to have our own relationship with God.
-Everyone hurts, has got something private inside, but, not everybody quits.
-Have we ever take our time to get our own?
-It begins making a choice in our hearts in our lives.

7 particular furnaces that we will have to go through being a revolutionary:

#1) The furnace of what people will say.
-God will prefer us to try out and fail than doing nothing at all.

#2) The furnace of financial pressure.
-Matthew 6:25.
-Give my way out with exceedingly generosity. It's the only way out.
-Be generous.
-Proverbs 11:24-25.

#3) The furnace of personal disappointment.

#4) The furnace of temptations.
-We got great dreams, but we got to go through this furnace first.
-Stop hanging around the mudpit.
-If we hang around the mudpit for too long, we'll soon fall into it.
-Take off our masks and get honest with each other.

#5) The furnace of insecurity.
-Everybody struggles with insecurities.
-Serve God first, He'll give me all that we desire.

#6) The furnace of stretching.
-John 21.
-The net will not break.
-A great ministry is a fishing net that will not break.
-God has set up a great ministry to do the impossible.
-Stretch and do the job required, we can do the impossible.

#7) The furnace of success.
-Jesus gets into the furnace and help us through.
-He always chooses to get in there to be there for us, to help us.

hey guys.

it has been really quite some time before i posted. i hope u guys are still reading this blog uh.

and yea. im asking a great favour from you guys.

my dad's very best friend, he has got cancer (4th stage). he left 6 months to live. and yeaa, but he didn't know that. he thought only a deadly tumor is inside, and is taken out or something. i not v sure. but wad i heard is he himself is not aware of the seriousness of his illness, and that he only got 6 months to live. but the people ard him know it.

alrights. fyi, he's really my dad's buddy. From what my mum said, he is like my dad's second "wife". they are closer den blood brothers. He helped my family a lot, and encourages my dad a lot. My mum know him as long as she knew my dad. so yep, very very close relationship with their family.

my mum cried while telling me all that. and the thing that keep coming to my mind is, he's only about 40 plus 50plus old, and he didnt know Jesus yet. so yep. i talked to my mum, saying bring him to church for prayer. and my mum asked me to talk to his daughters. so yep, im gng to find one day and meet them.

need your prayers indeed. my heartache so much when i heard about all this. pray for his health, and his family's heart to be soften, pray for open doors, pray for a miracle.

also, si chuan had another earthquake today in the afternoon. it's indeed heart-wrenching to hear tt on the news. pray for the people there also, ok? Pray for God's love to overwhelm them.

anyway, let's not forget to encourage one another as we live our week.

Hihi. Wai Kiat here. Lol. Sorry that I took a little longer than usual to update.

Firstly, let us encourage Mich Ng again in doing a good job last week yeah? =) I'm sure one day she is gonna be a really wonderful leader, serving God wholeheartedly and faithfully.

Next, I'm thinking of a cell group outing in May or June. I think its been millenniums since we had one, and I think it's time we gather together and have a relaxing time at a spacious space just playing and having a great fellowship.

Finally, just wanna take this time to do some encouragements, which I haven't been doing for quite some time. =)

Gideon: Continue to be the main spiritual leader that Oikos looks up to. You have always been a good leader: Ready to teach, discipline, and spur us on everytime. Be strong, and I pray that God would continue to anoint and empower you to be a good testimony to other people.

Mich Ng: Continue to be cheerful and 'bubbly'. Lol. And I pray that even as you are being trained to take on more major leadership roles, you would stand firm in His Word, and be guided by His Spirit. Your potential is going to pour out like a flood one day. =)

Xavier: Continue to mature in your spiritual life each day. Be encouraging to other people in your words, in your actions, and in your hunger for God. Be sensitive to His Spirit every day, and let God guide you in your thoughts and deeds. =)

Anthony: Continue to be bold and courageous. I pray that God would continue to give you wisdom in your studies, and that you would manage your time well in school and church. And I pray that God would guide you in your preparation for service in the music ministry, and that He would add on to your guitar skills.

Renée: Continue to be humble in the Lord. I pray that even in times of trials, you would continue to stand firm in God's ways. =) Allow God to nurture you in your beliefs for Him, and be a Christian that would not be shaken by the world's systems.

Yi Qi: Continue to be passionate for God. Even though you may be timid and shy at times in cell group, I know that your desire and thrist for God has always been strong. Continue to draw closer to God each day, allowing God to lead you in His ways everyday.

Evangeline: Continue to be sensitive to God. Do not be burdened by the worries of the world, but be at rest in the Lord. Seek God daily, and let Him be your guide and comfort for each day. Allow God's joy and love to flow through you. =)

Dek Kai: Continue to depend on God in the things you do. Let God guide and protect you in the army, and continue to let God be the centre of your life, allowing Him to be the light of your life. =)

Shawn Tay: Continue to grow in the Lord each day. Being the youngest in the cell group, I pray that God would one day use you mightily for His kingdom. =) Be hungry for the Lord, and continue to allow God to shape you in the way God wants you to be.

Calista: Continue to glorify God with what you have. Allow your testimonies and your musical skills continue to shine God's fame, and continue to be joyful in the Lord always. =) And continue to show others the joy of the Lord with your smiles.

Xing Ya: Continue to be teachable and have a heart of compassion to the people around you. Although you have just joined cell group for about more than a month, you have shown rapid growth in your spiritual life, and I pray that you would continue to be a strong Christian. =)

Mich Lo: Continue to honour God with your heart of service for Him. Your will in serving God with a simple heart has really been encouraging, and I pray that you would continue to serve Him faithfully and with joy in the media ministry.

Tiffany: Continue to love God with your heart of worship. Do not be afraid or discouraged during times of troubles, but be steady and at peace in God's arms, and continue to hear God's will for you within your life. =)

Yo. 尉杰 here. To those who were wondering what my chinese name is haha. (But I don't think anyone would really care anyway lol).

1) Praise God that Anthony was able to bring a newcomer to church last week. =) Although his friend is from another church, I believe he is able to feel the warmth and passion for God within the cell group that week.

2) Something that I would suggest for the cell group to practice this week. =D After P&W during service, there is a section where everybody stands up and shake hands with each other, remember? I challenge the cell group to move around the entire hall, not just the area where you are sitting. So far I only see our dear cell group leader, Gideon, done that. In the meantime, while shaking hands with the other person, say in your hearts: "God bless you". Don't underestimate these few words, it can make a difference in people's lives. =)

3) Do send some encouragements Michelle Ng in her effort to lead the cell group last week. =) It was planned on that week that she would lead all by herself, without any assistance by me and Gideon, and I feel that she did quite a good job yeah? She would be leading again this week, so do show her your support, as she continues to improve.

Yup, Wai Kiat here again. Haha I think I'm getting the habit of updating the blog weekly lol.

First off, let us continue to keep Lu Han in prayer yeah? Pray that he would continue to come to church weekly, and allow God continue to minister to him. Also, do give your encouragements to Xing Ya for taking the initiative to bring him to church. =)

Secondly, take note of cell group time yeah? The cell group only started at about 2:50pm. That's quite late. We need to be on time not just to get things started promptly, but we also need to give newcomers (when there are) a good impression. =)

I would like to share something here which I think is really important for the cell group.

On our way to West Mall, me and one of the cell group members (identity classified) were talking to each other, and we suddenly went into the topic of the 'closeness' within the core group.

I felt that this was something we should work on.

We meet each week only once per week, for cell group, for service. Or maybe twice, for discipleship. However, that doesn't mean that is the only time we have a decent talk to one another, and with everyone in the cell group.

And that is the problem. Cliches are forming from that. Or even 'lone wolves'.

Once cliches or 'lone wolves' are formed with cell group, it's going to be tough.

People are slowly shutting the doors and disallowing others whom they are not close with from speaking decently with them, as they are already getting comfortable with their own group of people.

I believe Oikos is a group of people that would not build barriers within cell group. =)

Hi ya all! =D I'm here for some things to share on.

1) Thank you all so much again for the birthday surprise! Really appreciated it. =)

2) I have seen tremendous improvement in the punctuality of the cell group for the past 2 weeks. It has really been very encouraging and pleasing, and I pray that this enthusiasm for God would continue to be strong in the cell for these coming years. =)

3) Pre-prayer time is meant for all of us. It has never been just about leaders or those who can speak more. What I have observed during pre-prayer time is not what we all should have displayed. It is awfully quiet. So come on people, raise your voices and declare His glory, be it in tongues or in words. There is nothing to be shy or afraid to speak up about during this time. It is all for God.

4) Prayer request: I will be going for my grade 5 music theory exam this coming saturday. Pray that I would not be nervous during the exam, and that I would be careful in what I'm doing. =) Thanks!

5) Just a side note. If in any case that I forgot or didn't pass around the paper to write down the service feedback, please do take the initiative to send me the feedback via sms, msn or email by sunday. I know that it is partly my fault, but please do make this work simpler for me. Thanks!

Hi people! WaiWai (Wai Kiat) here.

Just here to mention some things that I think the cell needs to take note of:

1) When writing your service feedback, please write LEGIBLY. Cos' as I was trying to type out the feedback on my computer, I sometimes see 'alien' words that I couldn't figure out, and I took like 20958204598 hours to decipher it, or maybe even give up and rephrase the sentence. So yup, please help me in this aspect. =D Thanks!

2) As Gideon has said before, I really hope that you all would be punctual for cell group. I'm not aiming at particular people, but I'm saying it as a whole of cell. I'm sure 2:30PM is a comfortable time for all, and that all should be able to come on time. I don't think there is a reason to always drag the time to about 3pm before we officially start (which is what usually happens). So why not we try to reach by 2:30pm sharp starting from this week? =) (Without any mamee treatment haha). I'm sure we all can do it. *smiles*

Great stuffs to share today.

so actually, as some of you have known, today fairfield methodist's doing outreach.
i went down together with michelle and weishun, and z3 [andyong, anathan, liangzhi, waikiat] & of cos mr ren!
so yea, chapel service with z3 playing and abigail+gideon singing.
after that, we actually went to the canteen yea, to start our outreach!
it was the lower secondary's recess, and each of us got the cards andy+jean have done, ready to give out.
all of us went out and interacted with the people, some of us individually, some in group.
basically, i tell you guys, it was definitely a blast! sure it was awesome :D

well, after sitting in and started talking to many of the people, we gave them the lil cards and invited them to church.
oh, i rmb this particular girl i talked too, and i got her email address! *jumping for joy!*
so we actually waited for the upper sec recess aft the lower sec's.
and we went on our 'mission' again.
but this time round, i found it harder to actually start convo w the upper secs. haha.
still, by God's grace, i managed to do so though some ain't really interested. :D
at that time, rejections didn't matter much to us i believe,
all that matters was us being able to reach out to the nonbelievers and inviting them to church for small seeds will be planted in them :D
& the rest's up to God already.

definitely, it was a joy to realise many of them are christians.
but i tink, the greater joy is to be able to invite nonbelievers to church!
many of us, esp andy, were quite discouraged when the people we talked to are almost all christians. haha!

the interesting part is here:

after the two recess, we still have many many cards left.
hence bro liangzhi initiated to put them into the lockers.
we did put some into th lockers, and after that, me and anathan took a stack of them to go around the sch, to find students to reach out to.
[the others were writing contacts behind the cards.]
well, reason being was because we actually saw many fmss students outside classrooms and such.
both of us walked around to talk to the students we saw, and i bet it was surely an enjoyable thing to do!
true enough, this method was really effective!
both me and anathan really did manage to make many friends and invite them!
i rmb this sec one technical class we went to talk to, because they're having free period!
it's a class of them mind you! HAHA!
awesome :D
well, we even grabbed hold the lil free time of the change of periods, while students moving to their respective classrooms for respective lessons.

at the same time, bro liangzhi and michng went to put the rest of the cards into the lockers. :D

ta-daa! cards all given out!! :D

hmm, well, i thought today's outreach was really awesome.
i seriously don't know what else to say.
feels so much like mission trip. =/ HAHA!
oh well, i pretty agree with what andy said,
that fairfield's kinda a good ground as compared to other schools alr.
and it's like, teachers never stop us when they see us giving out to the students the lil cards,
or even talking to those outside classroom despite lesson times!
in addition, we were just walking around giving out, not knowing if it's allowed.
hehh. and the students ain't unfriendly or hostile, and were willing to listen to us speak.(:

whatever it is, greatest glory still goes to God.
thank God for what He's done in this school.
thank God for even letting this outreach be quite a successful one!
thank God for even using each and every one of us for this special event!

initially when i heard of this outreach today, i couldn't come at all, despite really wanting to come so badly.
cos i was supposed to work morning shift today, and not working ytd.
sunday worked, wanted to ask manager to change today's shift, but i didn't ask eventually,
cos i knew it won't work. moreover, i got scolded over such issues before alr.
so all i could do is wanting to go badly inside me, telling God i want to go and such, yet can't do anything.
but miraculously, while working on sunday,
my manager came to ask me if i can exchange my tues' shift [which is today's] to monday [which is ytd].
THAT MEANS I CAN GO FOR THE OUTREACH.
AWESOME RIGHT?!

basically, i went out w my cousin and aunt.
unknowingly, while in my cousin's car,
initially was hearing to fm radio,
then he actually played the..
hmm..
u know the buddhist chants or sth,
the "armituofo" ting. [i don't know how to spell it!]
first reaction to it was to pray and pray in tongues in my heart.
nothing happened initially.
i continued, and within minutes,
i don't know why,
but he actually changed to fm!
so no more of those chants songs!
Holy Spirit VS Satan,
of course Holy Spirit wins la!
really amazing.
so its like a change,
from FM RADIO to CHANTS to FM RADIO back!!!

ignite conference 2008

well i thought ignite conference was awesome and it is definitely going to spark great attempts in our own campuses!

well for people who didn't attend the full conference, those who did will tell you it was TOTALLY AWESOME and it wasn't a waste of time. we got so much from Ps. Joakim who shared with us very practical ideas about how we can reach out in our school campuses!

well of course, another thing you missed out on is appearing in the totally cool photos.. which brought me to ask.. how come wai kiat not inside AH?! enjoy!

2nd day for the school peeps who had to appear in school uniform.. well of course there were people who simply wanted to relive their sec sch days.

Also, initially there were probs in ticketing and such, so it was like initially i got no ticket for friday and sunday. bt managed to get fri's & not sun's.
yet in the end, somehow, sis nana called mich to ask if she wanted any xtra tix for sunday!

He's so nice that He just provided me everything, including the money issue!
i thought my dad's gonna nag at me again when i ask from him,
but he didn't! he just gave me readily without another word nagged!
How great is our God!

i don't want to take this opportunity to be able to attend this conf for granted.
The fact that God actually provided a way for me to be able to go is alr a miracle, part of His wondrous plan!
I'm really blessed tt i'm able to go, not having to face parental objections etc.
I believe God has something great for me in store there!

fear of sharing the Gospel.

2 Timothy 1 : 5-9.

- God sees me as more than adequate.
- Fear comes directly from Satan.
- And Satan has 2 goals in mind for our lives:
1) to keep us from being saved
2) to stop us from growing spiritually.

- If i am incapable of sharing my faith, i am not growing spiritually then.
- It doesn't matters how Satan may look like, but its the devil's strategies that we have to be aware of.
- Devil uses people who we never expect to pull us off the track.

- There are 7 different kinds of fear in Greek.
- And 3 of the different kinds of fear are:

1) Phobeo - healthy/natural kind of fear.
2) Phobos - unnatural fear/ fear that paralyses us/ phobia.
3) Deilia - to be a coward, & as a result it paralyses you and afraid of making a difference in somebody's life.
[the fear tt causes us to live our ordinary lives; never trying to impact the world.]

=> v7: spirit of fear&timidity = spirit of deilia.

"You will miss 100% of the shots if you don't take it."

1. Success is not defined by whether you bring someone to Christ, but it is defined by whether you open your mouth and share.
- whether the person i shared to receive Christ or not, it's not my job, bt the Holy Spirit's job.
2. When people reject me, they're actually rejecting Jesus.
3. Whoever rejects Christ, will be judged.

- John 12:48.
- 1 Peter 3:15. * share with gentleness & respect.

HOW NOT TO BE AFRAID TO SHARE:

#1) Be lost-centered.

- A real search is lost-centered; being concerned with the lost out there.
- Many churches are too searcher-centered, focusing and being more concerned with themselves and our comfort zones rather than being lost-centered.
- We got to focus on the lost souls out there, instead of ourselves!
- Be not concerned with our own comforts; step out of my comfort zone.
- Ezekiel 34:8.
- Not about us, its about them.

#2) Be desperate.

- People without Jesus feel lost, confuse and they are desperate.
- We need to direct the lost.
- 3 possibilities why they are lost:

(i) the world offers many alternativies (religions).
(ii) we ask ourselves if the lost really are in danger.
(iii) we numb ourselves from thinking about it.

alright peeps. 2007 is coming to an end. like finally. someone's turning 16 soon like FINALLY. im just waiting to say u have grown to 165 like FINALLY.

anyways, please do pray for me even as i'm going to start work again soon. i'm going back on the 26th and there goes free time.

i heard im co-form teacher of a normal(acad) class. its going to be interesting. its the only normal acad class! haha.

need all the encouragements i can get even as things get busier. and being too busy is no good because we lose time with one another! i just feel this is the period Oikos is going to be unstoppable with seeing lost souls coming to know Him.

Yesterday's Christmas Bash was awesome yes? (: Encourage those people involved in it! (ie Gideon, Xavier and Mich Lo)

Just to keep you all updated, we had 15 regulars (all time high) and 22 newcomers. Out of the 22 newcomers, we saw 4 person accepting Christ and 1 redelicating her life. Praise the Lord for that.

For those whose friends didn't receive Christ, don't be disappointed. Continue to do follow up and invite them to church. And don't stop praying for your friends. :D

A Strong Spirit Conquers

You must watch this! Very inspiring and encouraging ...You've got to see this & be uplifted.

What you are about to see was seen at a Chinese modern dance competition broadcasted on one of China's TV stations. One couple won one of the top prizes. The lady has one arm and the guy has one leg. They performed gracefully and beautifully.

The lady in her 30s was a dancer and was trained as one since she was a little girl. Later she got into some kind of accident and lost her entire left arm. She was depressed for a few years. It seemed that someone asked her to coach a Children's dancing group. From that point on, she realized she could not forget dancing. She still loved to dance. She wanted to dance again. So she started to do some of her old routines. But by her losing an arm, she also lost her balance. It took a while before she could even making simple turns and spins without falling. Eventually she got it.

Then she heard some guy in his 20s had lost a leg in an accident. This guy also fell into the usual denial, depression and anger type of emotional roller coaster. She looked him up (seemingly he was from a different Province) and persuaded him to dance with her. He had never danced. And to dance with one leg? Are you joking with me? No way. But she didn't give up. He reluctantly agreed. ' I have nothing else to do anyway.' She started to teach him dancing 101. The two broke up a few times because the guy had no concept of using muscle, control his body, and a few other basic things about dancing. When she became frustrated and lost patience with him, he would walk out. Eventually they came back together and started training. They hired a choreographer to design routines for them. She would fly high (held by him) with both arms (a sleeve for an arm) flying in the air. He could bend horizontally supported by one leg and she leaning on him, etc. They danced beautifully and they legitimately beat others in the competition.

I would like to share with you this most magnificent and touching performance I have ever seen! It is a living proof that strong spirit can conquer any physical limitations!

heehee. sorry la. i cant resist but i just want to share my day.

alright.
i was rather pissed about somethings today.

First of all, i was on the mrt and this couple actually 'gossiped' about me and looked at me, and they laughed. -.-
I got no idea why they were laughing.
My zip was secured, my shirt was clean, my hair was in goodshape, and my face got no dirt on it. I thought i looked normal.

What will your first response be?
My first response was to stare back at them, and start bearing a grudge against them. Wait, i know sounds bad, but i said its my FIRST response.
But later, i thought again. This time round, i went through my thinking processes.
I asked myself, "How would Jesus response if He were me? ".
And yepp, my attitude changed and i just forgave them.
Because I know God'll forgive them right?
He's not petty to care about such things i suupose. He'll still love them yea.

Second thing was, i was pissed with a friend.
I was in a fury that i just headed home despite having to go find this friend.

This time, God began to speak to me.
He said, "Why are you angry? These are nothing worth angrying about."

And He reminded me something i learnt through QT quite some time ago, and that is, RIGHTEOUS ANGER.
Its all about getting angry over the right things.

In Mark 11:15-17, it is obvious that Jesus was very angry at that time.
In the life application bible, it explains,
"There is a place for righteous indignation. Christians are right to be upset about sin and injustice and should take a stand against them. Unfortunately, believers are often passive about these important issues and instead get angry over personal insults and petty irritations. Make sure your anger is directed toward the right issues.".

"Isn't it better to let go and just forgive than to bear a grudge and let it affect you so much? Why let yourself be so miserable this way?"

Yep, & one thing about me is that i can't control my anger well.
I believe God put me through today to even mould me and shape me, that even through these, i'll learn to control my anger & to forgive.

Yupp, after that, i certainly did feel much better.
I wasn't much of angry anymore, instead, i learnt to let go and just forget it. I chose to forgive, for God forgave me.
This is something i want to praise God & thank God for!
If it weren't for His constant reminders and His Word,
i supposed i'd have responded otherwise, and continue to just bear grudges, bringing misery upon myself.
Afterall, i thought about it, and there's really nothing to be angry about.

ever since then, this has been hangin in my mind, and i were constantly reminded of it.

alright people, it came to use today.
i went to my job agency to pass something and at the same time, told them i don't wanna work on saturday due to church. initially, the guy got very frustrated and kinda fierce. then the other guy keep persuading me to work and i compromised. called gideon up, telling him i can't push away the job. but when i left the agency, i was feeling so disappointed and bad, even to the extent of tears.

gideon msged me, and said that sentence. and yes, i know i shouldn't compromise. den i started to think, what matters most is spending time in the house of God and He will bless me so much more than just the job. so what if the guy will be unhappy, but matter most is pleasing God than anyone else. and i took my stand, prayed, went up again with the others and apply for leave again. this time, surprisingly, the guy's tone is better and he allowed. ((((:
mood lighten up and was happily thanking God.

this is how powerful prayer actually is.

nevertheless, i still did apologise. but not for anything, just for causing the inconvenience. hahaha.
anyway people, i reckon this week we have a few testimonies about how powerful prayers are from me, yiqi and karen. ((((:

as for me, a tough year. but still, i know i shouldn't compain. cos through everything, i learnt something out of it. a year of tears, struggles. but i made it through still. never did i expect i will fall away too. but He draw me back once again. (((:

I pray that as we con't to pray and support each other, our relationship with God will deepen. I pray that it will not just be on the surface, but our roots will grow deep, drawing strength from Him.

Dig deeper! There's so much more to our Daddy then we can ever imagine! His love, His goodness, His grace ... He's pouring out so much to us. So i urge all of you to pour out yourself to Him, allow Him to fill you with Himself.

All the failures, mistakes, mess that you've committed ... leave it at the cross. He has something better for you. Dont trade this love that you've received from Him with a bunch of lies from satan. He's waiting for you to return home.

Hey!

Last week we heard Bro. RX preach about Looking to God and how we should live God-centered lives! Let us continue to be committed to encouraging one another as we see our spiritual lives grow together in a cell group!

You see what's so different about cell group from any other groups.. Like your SHEeee fan club lah.. or.. CCA group is that its a group of people who are committed to each other 24/7! You see its more than just going out together.. slacking in Macdonald staring at the Red-haired ah beng.. more than just spending time.. Its a group who knows its purpose in God and is committed to fulfil the Great Commandment and in turn fulfil the Great Commission. We can spend lotsa time knowing about each other but yet we do not harness the bonds to help each other grow spiritually and win the world for Christ, then we are like a social club who meets weekly for a game or 2.. Not effecting change to the world..

So its about committing yourself and asking God what He can do with your presence in places. In church, He may use you to speak life and encourage other christians who are not doing so well.. In school, He may use you to share your spiritual journey with a close friend of yours. At home, He may even use you to show love to your family! Everything God asks us to do does have effects on other humans, but let us not lose focus of the greater reason! Its so that you can glorify His name! Its all about Him!

I have to say there are people who are quieter and might not fit into an activity group.. But you will be suprised these are the people who may be praying the most for each and other one of us! So everyone in a cell group is just as important no matter what personality you may possess.. We can't have 10 Huiting's ard if not we will just end up with an apple tree.. Neither can we have 10 Gideon's around, if not the whole planet will freeze up and destruct.. How about 10 Michelle's? Whoops..

So cell group is a time where everyone comes and begin to understand how the cg as one can influence change in our communities! By understanding each other in our spiritual learnings together..

So yap, even as you embark in week 2 of Exp God this week, ask God to change your perspective of activities in your life and how your life can be a blessing to God and His people.

REMEMBER:

1) ANGELS, encourage your mortals! We will be coming up with an encouragement corner!
2) Bring $4 for Jan CG Fund
3) Bring $3 for expenditure on Dek Kai's scrapbook. We thank Xavier for paying everything first.. As much as we don't want him to eat grass.. so remmber to bring the money.

Pray for Huiting as she deals with dance stuff, the Superteen thingy.. and her mountain load of homework. Must pray for them as they serve the cell group! 5) Quiet Time! Talk to God.. Reading.. Thinking.. Journalling.. Experiencing God!
6) Pray for Dek Kai even as he has just started lessons in Australia.. Pray that he will find new friendships and get rooted in a local church..

Press on! I hope all of you have been faithful with your QT. I believe God has spoken to you even throughout the week of exams! Guess what we will be going out after exams as a cell to just totally let our hair down! Hahaha.. But meanwhile continue to work hard!

While you are still revising for your exams, let me just share a lil..

What are you leaning on?

Remember the times when you feel tired and you will just hope to find the nearest wall to lean on so that you can rest your back. When we stand or do stuff, our back tends to be doing most of the work because it controls the different parts of the body. Haha a bit chim stuff here, each segment of your entire backbone controls one part of the body..

So when you are tired mentally and spiritually, what is it that you are leaning on? Some of us do things that will help us relax, but guess what true rest lies in our God! Jesus says,"Come unto Me those who are weary, and I will give you rest."

Even as you continue "fighting" your exams, don't forget to rest in God! His Word brings a new refreshing to our very being.

Meanwhile.. Lets have fun and enjoy cell! Connect with your friends and the new comers!

Bit of sharing (Do I love God?)
I always ask people and myself, "what is loving God? How does it feels like to love God"? Some people actually feel that they had the love for God. But I never, maybe not as full of emotions, maybe not as fortunate?

Someone told me: when you keep your faith in God, trust him in all situation, that is loving him.
Someone else told me: If you love God, then u will obey him, obey his laws and commandments, hate sin and willing to give urself to him.
Another person: If you love God, you will share abt him to others.
Few days ago, i ask God, how do I noe I love You?

Jesus: Do you love me?
Peter: Yes, I do!
Jesus: If you love me, feed my sheep.

Note that the sheep don't have "S". Not because Jesus wants Peter to feed one sheep, it's because english grammer is liddat one la.

you may be thinking, i don't have sheep. Yea, you do! The sheep is your brothers and sisters in christ. Feeding them is sharing what you've learnt, it's talking to one another, sharing with one another and praying with or for one another.

Hey everyone! I hope that everyone's starting their week with a huge bang. As we celebrate National Day this wednesday let us also remember that we have a nation to pray for and to harvest!

Okay just a few things... Our service hit beyond the 200 mark last Saturday!! Woohooo! Let us continue to reach out and grow our cell okay? Service 1 also hit their 240 mark last week too! Youth Impact is indeed growing!

On 080806(that's tomorrow!), we are going to watch fireworks! So if you are free and wanna catch a lil of colours in the sky, do join us! Guess what? Bring your friends along! We will meet at 8pm at Marina Bay MRT alright? After the 15 min fireworks at 9pm, we will all go straight home, lest we fall asleep during prayer meeting the next day..hahaha

This Wednesday we are having our church-wide fast and pray service. We will be praying for all the schools in the west side so do come and join in prayer for YOUR VERY OWN school! -I sense a huge wave coming in-

We need to be in red or white for the service and for those who are interested we are meeting at 8.30am on Wednesday morning for breakfast! Let's settle for Mac okay?

Haix, I'm tired. But if i don't say this before i sleep, i will feel uneasy.

THANKS MICHELLE!! haha. What a wonderous sight. i see tiff, huiting, mich and xavier (gideon there also, i noe) doing discipleship material together. Wow!!! like doing as a cell, no i see a family over there. i really thought it was cool. thanks to tiff, huiting and xavier too. thanks for not seeing that as a chore, for making the effort to come down, the decision to know more about God and the choice of loving one another more.

Yea, first step to reaching the world is to get together. Come on, now we will reach to our frens, get their butts into our cell. When we emits that Aroma Of God, if people see love among themselves and us, if they see the hope within us, only then, had we gone near to what God wants us to be.

And this week we are going to explore the truths of Fellowship! Coming into the presence of God alongside with the other saints! How beautiful the sight when we see little children all gather for His great purpose!

Have you been faithful with your daily walk with God? Hmm hope you are doing your Masterlife material faithfully! And I believe God has been speaking to you regarding committment and fellowship yes?

I have been praying for the people who haven been with us for a while. But I believe this week is going to be different!

For those who have been encouraging, continue encouraging as the Bible has said. Thanks to those whose msges and tags came in, really made my week a joy! Really appreciate you ppl and I have been praying for you as you all continue to grow and draw yourself in the presence of God!

Recently, Mich was sick and I hope she's okay already! Wai Kiat and Xavier with their technical studies, I hope they are managing well and Brother Wei Qiang who's ever busy with his filming schedule, hope that he's been getting enough sleep and rest! Tiffany recently had a test/exam on Monday too! Believe it went well ya? We are all covered under prayer! Yay! The rest should be getting on well with their studies yes?
